I came to CrossFit Bradenton because I just moved to the area and was looking for CrossFit gyms to sign up at. I’ve been to several gyms since starting CrossFit (3 in California and 2 in Puerto Rico, so I knew more or less what my expectations were (competition, good atmosphere, distance, coaching, etc…). At first, it was hard for me since I didn’t know anyone. It was like starting from scratch. I tend to be really shy when I don’t know people. A lot of times, people think I just don’t want to talk to anyone. With time, I got to know a lot of people and make friends…friends that I hang out with and have shared a lot of things that I cherish. It has changed into a great experience.
My first bright spot was DUBZ (double-unders)!!! I came to CFB and didn’t know how to jump rope. No seriously…I couldn’t do single-unders. I practiced every night after class and now I’m decent at them.
Right now, I’m working on my cardio. I’m running two miles before class (sometimes after) so I can work on my cardio and to make my body tired so that I can push myself even more in every WoD. It’s working too. J
My favorite memory at CrossFit Bradenton is getting a 500lb deadlift personal record. I won’t forget it because I haven’t been able to do it again.
