I have an appointment with my dentist today. I made that appointment because last week I discovered a chip in my tooth and I have absolutely no idea where it came from! Freaked me out a little bit to be completely honest. It’s a weird experience to suddenly feel a hole where part of your tooth should be.

So I’m going to go to my dentist and I am planning to get whatever treatment my dentist recommends to fix the hole in my tooth. While I am there I will also be getting my teeth cleaned because I need that for the general health of my teeth.

I promsie I’m going somewhere with this; my teeth cleaning will most likely be very similar to the other pateints who are there for their regular teeth cleanings because we all need to take care of our dental health in a similar, general way. But when the dentist goes to fix my chipped tooth he will be using a specific and diagnostic approach to find my unique problem and the best specific solution for me.

My general health will improve, and my specific problem will be solved.

This is the approach we offer you for your fitness goals. The best way to accomplish your goals is to work with coaches who are subject matter experts. The fastest way to accomplish those goals is to get specific solutions for them. Let me explain;

(Nerd-out inbound) There are two main ways that your body responds to the workouts that you do. First there is the General Adaptation Syndrome. The GAS means that all human bodies respond similarly to any stressful stimuli they endure.

That is why our class programming is so effective. Our CrossFit class programming is designed to stress every aspect of fitness. It is a broad program that is intended to gradually raise all of the general elements of your fitness.

The second training mechanism is the SAID principle. Specific Adaptation to Imposed Demands. This means that your body will have specific adaptation to specific stimuli. This is the key to unlocking the fast track to your goals!

An athlete with a goal of lifting more weight on their deadlift 1 rep max needs a very different approach than an athlete who wants to burn off as much body fat as possible. The CrossFit class will get both athletes there, but the optimal strategy will be to add some individual design to your training.

That’s where we want to serve you guys better. Our number one goal is that every one of our athletes is actually progressing towards their goals. Each one of you had a specific goal in mind when you joined our gym and we want to do an even better job of getting you to where you want to be.

The fastest way for us to get you to the promised land is indivudal design. I am not saying you should ditch the group classes. They are and always will be at the heart of what we do. But if you want the body you have always dreamed of, if you want to string pull-ups together or do a muscle-up, if you want to sling heavier weights than ever before; then start adding some 1 on 1s to your training!

In a 1 on 1 we can give you 100% of our attention and we can design the programming to be 100% specific to you and to whatever goal we are trying to acheive. It is the difference between the General Adaptation & the Specific Adaptation, between getting your teeth cleaned & having a hole in a particular tooth fixed.

Let us help you get to where you want to be. Our goal for you is constant progression, so if you feel stuck or like you have hit a plateu then all you need to do is grab one of the coaches at the gym and we will find those specific solutions and get you soaring towards your goals!
